Younger children need routine, so throughout the moving period, aim to keep your child’s schedules and routine normal. Follow these tips and see how easy it really is.

1. Let your children know you are thinking about relocating as soon as you know.
It’s good for the children to get used to the idea of moving. Don’t put it off until the end because you think your helping them; it’s the total opposite. Be short and to the point when trying to explain the move to younger children.

2. Involve the children.
Let your children go house haunting with you. Let them choose if they want a large back yard or a smaller one or even a pool. Open the lines of communication towards helping your children feel comfortable with moving.

3. Be positive about moving.
Your children feel your stress and anxiety about the up coming move. If you’re positive, and enthusiastic about the whole relocation then your children will feel the same way.

4. Let your children help.
Emphasize that this is a family event. Assure your children that their contributions are valued and appreciated. Let them pick out their rooms at the new house and the paint. Do point out the things that you know will be basically the same in their new home and community, such as having a backyard to play in and going to school.

Everything is about communication; your children will understand the life transition.

Some Moving Tips to Keep in Mind:

• Notify your telephone, electric, gas, water, and credit card Companies.
• Forward necessary mail to your new address. Discontinue service on a specific date.
• Notify former employers. This will make tax time less taxing.
• Be there and give direction. Let them know what you want loaded first and loaded last.
• Get a copy of your inventory sheet from the foreman. Double check his notations about existing damage to your goods.
• Have your insurance plan readily available. Hopefully you will have no use of this tip.
• Devise a system. You should label your boxes with their destination in your new home. Hang numbered signs on the doorposts of each room and write the same numbers on the appropriate boxes. (Example: “2nd Fl./Room 4?) If you’re handy with a pencil, sketch a sample layout of your house, number the rooms on it, and post the layout on the truck for reference.
• Load the rooms to be unloaded first—last. Whatever room is furthest from the entrance in your new home should be that room. In other words, unload back to front. The kitchen should be done at the very end though, because heavy appliances should go in the truck first.
• Don’t forget to have your tools ready when you start unloading. You should put your tool box in when everything else is loaded in the truck.
• Take all your valuable documents and jewelry with you! Don’t forget about your plants either. Most are too sensitive to make a long journey in a hot, dark truck. If you can take them with you too.

This isn’t the end of the world and there are definitely worse things that could happen!

The first would be the 16th Street Mall, mostly named because it is located on 16th, but also being located in the middle of downtown definitely has a wide variety of shops, food centers, and just about anything imaginable you could think of to have a good time, morning, afternoon, or evening. The second place would have to be, Invesco Field. Home of the Denver Broncos and is highly recommended to be visited at least once. Thirdly, for those of you who like to partake in gambling every once in a while, Blackhawk Casino is one of the most popular sites around. Hello Readers, this blog is to compare between the two. There are bonuses and downsides to both Self Packing & Professional Packing. Yes, when you pack yourself as the customer, it does save you money in the beginning. The down-side to this, is that if any damage occurs to the items inside of the boxes, moving companies and their insurance WILL NOT cover any costs. The upside to professional packing is that you be can certain, everything will be packed properly and If…..I really stress the If part….any damages occur during the move, the moving company takes full responsibility for any and all costs. Of course, it does cost more for the service, but you would be surprised to see how FAST professional packers really are. They are there to get in and get out.
