Moving to Denver and worried about the cold? No worries, because soup is taking over popular cities and warming residents up for winter. Bone broth has come to Boulder, premiering this week at Fresh Thymes Eatery, just in time for National Soup Month.

“It’s considered a therapeutic beverage,” said Christine Ruch, chef-owner of Fresh Thymes.

According to clinical nutritionist Kaayla T. Daniel, “Made of chicken or beef bones, usually simmered for days, bone broth has a high collagen content, which helps support the bones, skin and cartilage.”

Kobe Bryant also recently announced his love of bone broth, saying that it has become a major part of his regular diet.

Since bone broth is growing in popularity, and it is warm, Colorado residents are devouring the delectable soup at Thymes Eatery, and warming up during this cold winter.

Fresh Thymes Eatery of Boulder serves three kinds of broth: beef flavored with ginger and garlic, chicken flavored with turmeric, and vegetarian with roasted mushrooms. The delicious soups are served in glass mason jars and you can even bring your soup to the condiments bar to add things like: cilantro, parsley, jalapeno, scallions, lime, and dried sriracha.

If you love soup and are a business connoisseur, you should consider opening a soup store of your own, since Coloradans love trying new food trends, appreciate the healing properties of soup, and of course, enjoy anything that makes them feel warm during the very cold winter. Other popular places to get soup in the state are: Humboldt Farm, Fish & Wine, ViewHouse, and Zoup! Fresh Soup Co.

According to a report by The Denver Post, “Denver-based solar power firm SunShare is looking at brighter prospects with a big financial boost from utility powerhouse NRG Energy.”

There are big things on the horizon for Colorado, and if you are moving to Denver, local moving companies want you to know that Denver residents are all about innovation and “the next big thing”. As a new resident, you can expect to find the most popular foods, the most popular grocery and retail stores, and the most popular innovative technologies and initiatives. One thing that Colorado loves to invest in is the future, and the future of energy and solar power.

SunShare is looking to grow to eight times larger than their current position with this deal that is on the table with NRG Energy.

“Solar gardens, also known as community solar, give businesses, nonprofit groups and residents the opportunity to participate in solar generation projects without building their own systems. SunShare’s deal with NRG entails development of four solar gardens in metro Denver and one in Colorado Springs. Collectively, the 100 acres of solar panels will generate 10 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 1,600 homes.”

Denver, and more widely, Colorado residents, can look forward to a bright, sustainable future in The Centennial State.

If you are moving to Denver in 2015, you will be happy to know that unemployment in the entire state of Colorado had the biggest drop in 2014, in comparison to every state in the U.S.

Denver movers want you to feel confident that when moving to Denver, you will be able to find a job. Dropping from 6.2 percent to 4 percent by the end of the year, the Colorado workplace added 62,300 jobs, boosting payrolls by 2.6 percent.

In December alone, the state added 4,700 jobs, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

But even those are not the best rates in the state. The unemployment rate in metro Denver was 3.8 percent, and 3.9 percent in Greeley where the northeastern Colorado oil patch is located.

Broomfield economist Gary Horvath explained that 60 percent of last year’s job growth was in construction, health care, food services, retail trade, and professional and technical services. He also said that the price of oil during 2014 had an impact on jobs and that the price of oil will have, “an effect on the rate of job growth in 2015. However, at a statewide level, most of these sectors will show steady growth.”

If you are moving to Denver, rejoice in the fact that the city and entire state is seeing the largest amount of job growth since the state’s 2001 recession, adding roughly 3 million jobs in 2014, the most since 1999.

The Humor Code traveled over 91,000 miles for their book and used the Humor Algorithm to rank Denver, Colorado number eight on their list of The 50 Funniest Cities in America.

In what The Humor Code calls “the most comprehensive analysis of humorous cities ever attempted,” a team of fellow jokesters went on a nine month long journey to find the 50 funniest cities in America.

Their evaluations were based off of the number of comedy clubs per square mile in each city, traveling comedians’ ratings of audiences, number of famous comedians born in each city divided by the population, number of famously funny tweeters, number of comedy radio stations, and frequency of humor-related web searches made within the city.

In “The Top Ten Cities’ Humor Profiles”, the profile on Denver explains that the city earned its number eight spot by having “laid-back comedy” and residents that can relax and not take things too seriously.

Interviewed residents say that they would have to be laid-back in order to be able to laugh at Blucifer: The Demon Horse of the Denver Airport that “welcomes” people to their city.

Denver moving companies are also laid-back and can help you relax by offering professional full-service moving for you and your family, so that you can get settled in your new Denver home. Take your family to a local comedy club and have a Denver laugh, while All My Sons Moving & Storage moves your belongings.

By any standard Margaret Tobin was a hero. Anyone who has seen the blockbuster movie Titanic will remember the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown. Margaret “Molly” Tobin was born in Hannibal Missouri on July 18, 1867 to a poor family, and dreamed of a better life. Molly always had a big heart. Though she had planned to marry a rich man, she was smitten with JJ Miller, the son of poor Irish immigrants, and married for love. JJ went on to attain great wealth in the mining business and Molly’s childhood dream came true.

Molly cared for others. With the time and riches of a millionaire’s wife she invested her heart and soul in helping others. She ran a soup kitchen for the families of the miners whose work made her rich. Molly was instrumental in forming the first juvenile court in the U.S. and worked tirelessly on behalf he poor in her adopted home of Denver. But Molly’s heroism and care for others is best exemplified by actions during the sinking of the Titanic. Though she could have escaped the doomed ship early with the rich patrons of 1st class, or with the poor women and children in steerage she refused to board a lifeboat, helping others instead. When she was finally forced to board a lifeboat she took up an oar with the men and even fought the ship’s quartermaster over whether they should try to rescue others trapped in the frigid water.

The Molly Brown House Museum is a memorial to this icon of the Mile High City. The Victorian style mansion On Pennsylvania St. was purchased by the Browns in 1894 and was Molly’s home until her death in 1932. This year the museum will have a number of great events, but Thirsty Thursday – A Flapper Christmas is probably the most unique

“A historic twist on young professional events, Thirsty Thursday will dive into topics too taboo for conversations in daylight. Perfect for fashionistas and nerds alike! Kick off the holiday season in the true Flapper style. Dance the night away in an “undercover” speakeasy. You will receive a password that will allow you entry to this underground party. Discover the history of the Flapper, listen to some great 20s music, learn the Charleston, and see what helped to make the 1920s roaring. Enjoy drinks from Gold Moon Distillery and munch on some historic treats of the era. This event is recommended for 21-40 year old young professionals.most unique.”

Moving to the Mile-High City ? Then You want a mover who cares for you and will go to heroic lengths to make sure you have a great moving experience.

If you are moving to Denver this holiday season, your local moving company wants you to make sure that you be mindful of Colorado deer when decorating your home for Christmas.

In November, a large mule-deer buck got stuck in the ropes of the batting cage at Durango High School and its antlers had to be cut off in order to set it loose. Parks and Wildlife wants to warn residents that although these situations may not be completely avoidable, homeowners should take the necessary precautions so that your family and deer are not harmed in the event that a deer gets tangled in anything on your property.

Earlier this month, Colorado Parks and Wildlife department warned residents that the winter brings especially dark nights, making deer distracted by the bright lights of Christmas. The department released a written warning that stated, “Residents are also asked to be careful how outdoor Christmas decorations are hung.”

December is mating season for the big bucks of Colorado and every year, residents from all over the state have to get large deer unstuck from Christmas decorations of all kinds.

If you are new resident in Denver, make sure that you do not put out too many inflatable decorations, lawn decorations, and low hanging lights when decorating for Christmas. If you are going to put up Christmas lights, Parks and Wildlife asks that you follow these simple instructions: “lights should be attached firmly to structures, or strung at least eight feet off the ground. Do not drape lights loosely on top of shrubbery or wrap lights around tree trunks.”

Aside from Christmas decorations, each year you should make sure that you put away any basketball hoops, volleyball nets, trampolines, low-hanging wires, swing sets, lawn equipment, outdoor toys, and even plastic fencing.

It may sound tedious to do every winter, but local moving companies, in cooperation with Parks and Wildlife want you and your family, as well as Colorado deer to stay safe during winter.

If you are a Colorado football fan you are probably doing your touchdown happy dance at the rumor of a new CSU football stadium.

Earlier this month, Colorado State University President Tony Frank announced his proposal for the reconstruction of the campus’ football stadium. Last week, the Board of Governors was scheduled to vote on the plans in order to move forward.

The President made the recommendation based off of the fact that the university would either spend $36 million over the next 10 years in order to maintain the current stadium, or $149 million to renovate it to last another 30 to 40 years. The President’s option calls for roughly $195 million to build an entirely new campus stadium that could survive 30 to 40 years.

Although CSU football fans may love the idea, oppositions to the plan include the concerns that building an on-campus stadium would hurt local business and neighborhoods.

Local Denver moving companies support both the CSU football team and our neighborhood residents, so we encourage anyone who would like to voice their opinion on the stadium’s construction plan to make it to the public meetings.

If you are moving to Denver this cold winter, Commerce City and the re-developers of the former Mile High Greyhound Park dog track are asking local residents their opinion on what the plan should be in order to redevelop the 65-acre site located on Dahlia Street.

Two community meetings have been held in order to collect building ideas for the city and Real Estate Generation, in hopes of creating a master development agreement that will make residents happy.

Principal of Real Estate Generation Rick Wells says that, “We have assembled a great team with proven success and are thrilled to be able to work with the community as we take these next crucial steps in making the (Mile High Greyhound Park) vision a reality.”

Along with the community meetings, the city created preliminary design proposals based off of a feasibility study that they conducted. According to the Denver Post the proposals included: “a construction skills training campus, around 150 single-family homes, 250 rental units and up to 90,000 square feet of office space”.

If you are moving to Denver, the master redevelopment project is expected to take seven to 10 years, so voice your opinion on how your future city should redevelop the site so that you can enjoy whatever new complex comes to your new community.
