Best Movers in Denver – 303-329-3217

Good news for Denver movers and children in Colorado as the nation focuses on National Childhood Obesity Awareness month in September. In Denver, where one in four children are overweight, one focus is on physical activity. Moving to Denver can have an emotional strain on children and they may tend to overeat. All My Sons in Denver wants parents to look out for signs of over-eating and be knowledgeable about obesity.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says obesity rates increased dramatically from the 1970’s through the 90’s, but have leveled off in recent years. Denver still remains a one in four obesity rate amongst children. Cate Townley with the CDPH says, “By carrying this extra weight now, it puts them at more of a risk for developing diseases later in life,” she says. “And could also create quite a bit more expense in terms of health care costs as well.”
Denver movers can breathe easy knowing that those health conditions can be prevented and the Mile High City is taking action to make sure that the children of Denver are taking the right steps. Experts recommend kids exercise at least one hour a day, eat more fruits and vegetables, cut back on screen time and sugar-sweetened beverages, and get at least nine hours of sleep.
Parents can also get involved with the Colorado Health Foundation Healthy Places, which is a program that brings communities together to design more active environments. This program is recommended for low-income children who are at a higher risk of obesity. Townley states, “It is harder for low-income kids, because often they have a lack of access to healthy foods and affordable foods in their neighborhoods,” she says. “And there’s less opportunities for safe physical activity in their neighborhoods as well.”
Denver movers are extremely proud of what the city is doing to reduce obesity, including an increase in school gardens where kids learn how to grow and eat healthy foods. Just one of the many exciting reasons your kids will love moving to Denver and for parents, Colorado continues to be one of the healthiest adult populations in the nation!

Move over Steelers, it’s time for the Denver Broncos to show what they’ve got! Thursday Night football was for the Broncos as they headed towards a wild victory over the Chiefs at Kansas City. Not only are Denver movers and residents excited about the win, but CBS and the NFL Network announced that it was the most-watched and highest-rated broadcast of “Thursday Night Football” ever. It is an exciting time to move to Denver as the Broncos victory was heard all over town.

The game was watched by an average of 21.117 million viewers, that’s up two percent from last year’s 20.777 million for the Steelers-Ravens game on September 11. The game also earned an average national household rating/share of 12.9/24, also up two percent from the 12.7/22 for the Steelers and Ravens game, which is the previously most-watched and highest-rated TNF game since the Broncos-Chiefs game.

The game winning touchdown by Bradley Roby’s helped the Bronco’s victory against the Chiefs, and linebacker Von Miller could not have been more excited for the cornerback. The final score was 31- 24 in favor of the Broncos, making this their seventh straight win over their AFC West rivals.

Quarterback Peyton Manning said, “I’ll tell you, their defense is so much better than last year. They’re so stout against the run. They just make it hard all night. We just kept plugging.”
If you are moving to Denver, you can expect your movers and new neighbors to be chit-chatting about the Broncos season and what is to come. A tip from All My Sons: throw a football party after you get settled in!

If there is one thing that coffee lovers need to know when moving to Denver, it is that Denver is home to iconic coffee brand Boyer’s Coffee. It may be a slight understatement to say that everyone in Denver knows the brand and uses it as their coffee of choice. Now, locals can find their favorite coffee brand at Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company.

Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company has recently acquired the Boyer’s Coffee Brand, buildings, assets and land.

Jason and Douglass Barrow are the owners of Luna Gourmet, and they describe Boyer’s Coffee as “a slice of Americana, in terms of what coffee is. They were roasting coffee there in the early ‘70s. And, before that, Bill was roasting out of his garage.” As for Boyer’s Coffee being American coffee at its finest, Denver movers would have to agree.

The Bill that they refer to is Bill Boyer, of course. Bill Boyer worked hard to carefully safeguard the secret to his coffee beans and roasting process, and the Boyer brand is celebrating over 50 years of being a coffee tradition in the heart of Denver.

After your move to Denver, you can find Boyer’s Coffee at Taco John’s, King Soopers, City Market, Safeway, Sam’s Club and Walmart.

Denver is booming and startups are taking notice. In fact, Denver is on the list of top cities in the entire United States for flourishing startups and job availability. Recently, Denver won the battle against Salt Lake City and Austin for the U.S. city that would become the new home for San Francisco startup company ZenPayroll. Why do so many cities fight to become the home for startups and businesses in general? The answer is because they bring jobs and wealth creation to the local economy.

ZenPayroll will officially be expanding to Denver and will be receiving $19 million in tax incentives from the state of Colorado for creating over 100 full-time jobs, and 1,000 more in the next few years.

Zen Payroll CEO Joshua Reeves says that it is the second largest growth-growth tax credit ever approved by Colorado’s state board, as mentioned in Fortune Magazine.

Denver movers are excited to see what this will mean for those who are looking to move to Denver; hopefully it will help new residents secure a job.

In fact, Reeves said that his company is attracted to the fact that so many millennials are moving to Denver each year, and they want to employ the “kindred spirit mindset” that is much similar to that of San Francisco.

Zen Payroll is backed by $86.1 million in venture funding and has over 20,000 businesses as customers.

Downtown Denver has everything from food and fun, to shopping and entertainment. If you are moving to Denver, the 16th Street Mall, one of the most frequented areas of downtown, stretches over one mile in length. The 16th Street Mall connects one side of downtown Denver with the other, making it the perfect destination for locals and visitors to spend a day walking and mingling. As of late, even though public transit passes through downtown, passengers are not stopping to browse and shop.

“It’s obviously an incredibly successful transit mall,” said Brad Buchanan, executive director of Denver Planning and Community Development. “But the issue is how to create a sense of place that attracts people and gets them to linger.”

Last summer, researchers observed the busiest sections of the 16th Street Mall and found that only 1 percent of pedestrians stopped to linger.

“I’m surprised there are not more people spending time on the mall,” said Jeff Risom, a Denver native who manages Gehl’s U.S. operations from a Copenhagen office. “It’s the most important street in the city, but it is surprisingly underperforming in relation to its potential.”

Denver movers overheard that the reason behind the lack of locals lingering in the area is due the perceived image of the area, causing some locals to view the area as unattractive and perhaps unsafe. In attempts to revitalize 16th Street Mall, Gehl is working with the Denver planning office and the Downtown Denver Partnership under a $650,000 initiative called “The Mall Experience: The Future of Denver’s 16th Street Mall.” The plan will work towards “pedestrianizing” the mall and restricting the use of RTD’s Free MallRide shuttles along 16th Street.

Denver movers hope that the initiative works as planned and draws more locals and visitors to downtown.

State lawmakers are currently studying ways to prevent school violence, how to assuage the issue in local schools, and how to deal with children who may need mental health services or increased mental health services.

In response to the 2013 death of Claire Davis, who was shot by a fellow student at Arapahoe High School, the committee was formed by Colorado lawmakers and will meet throughout the entire summer. Moreover, lawmakers across the country have been searching for solutions for nearly two decades when it comes to student violence, all as a result of Columbine.

One resident, whose name is anonymous, stated, “Better late than never. We shouldn’t wait for incidents to review the policies; make it an ongoing process”.

According to the committee, their studies should reach some sort of initiative by the end of summer 2015, so that rules and programs can be implemented for the 2015-2016 school year. Denver movers hope that the study will help create programs that will allow families who are moving to Denver to feel safe placing their children in the local school systems.

The study will provide ideas for legislation next year and the committee is comprised of lawmakers, parents, school officials, and mental-health professionals.

Major Denver companies are ditching the suburbs and moving downtown due to the presence of millennials. The operation to make downtown Denver more appealing to millennials by creating more walkable areas and urban-centric places is making the companies flock as well. At least, a new study indicates that this is so.

The study is from Smart Growth America and is called “Core Values: Why American Companies are Moving Downtown.” It reports that hundreds of American companies are moving to downtown Denver to be closer to the fresh minds of millennials and downtown neighborhoods.

“Some of today’s most innovative companies are part of this emerging trend, choosing to move to, invest in, or expand in America’s walkable, urban downtowns,” the report says. “These companies clearly see a competitive advantage to locating in neighborhoods with a mix of offices, restaurants and shops, with a variety of housing options close by and accessible by a range of transportation choices.”

Of the 500 companies and hundreds of staff members that were surveyed, many explained that the advantages to moving their business out of the suburbs and into downtown Denver, include the following:

  • Being close to the availability of talented workers
  • Being able to attract workers
  • Creative collaboration
  • The ability to be closer to their partners

Denver moving companies like All My Sons Moving & Storage are excited to move more companies downtown and hope that the millennials will flock there as well.
