Best Movers in Denver – 303-329-3217

Beer lovers who have been looking at moving to Portland should second guess their decision. Moving to Denver may actually tickle your beer fancy more than the Oregon capital.

First, Denver movers took a look at all of the cities that claim to be the best beer city in the United States: San Diego, Asheville, Brooklyn, Chicago, and of course, Portland.

CNN’s Joel Williams reported earlier this month that the “Mile High City trumps them all.” He also said that although his opinion is not definite, he can back it by many facts and statistics…and the facts don’t lie!

According to Williams, Denver locals are crazy for beer! The American Homebrewers Association reported that there are over 100,000 homebrewers in the state of Colorado, making residents arguably incredibly knowledgeable about craft beer, as well as validating their status as craft beer lovers. Denver movers know that when you love beer so much you even brew it in your own home, you have to realize that you live in the best beer city in the United States.

More facts presented by Williams:

  • Over 100 breweries have opened in the state of Colorado since 2011.
  • Over 48 breweries are located in downtown Denver, which is more than enough to keep you trying a new brew every weekend after moving to Denver.
  • Coors brewing facility is located just outside of Denver and is the largest in America.
  • There are local contests where you can win free beer for an entire year.

Denver movers and Williams are not exactly saying that Denver is America’s Best Beer Town, but facts are facts and they speak for themselves. One thing is for sure – Denver residents sure do love their craft beer!

The month of November means the commencement of ski season for Denver residents. If you are moving to Denver this month or have recently relocated to the area – do you have a pair of skis yet? For those who have never skied before and are moving to Denver, you should get really excited about learning perhaps the city’s most popular and fun sport!

After you get settled into your new home, your new neighbors may invite you out for a day of skiing, so you should know where to get some skis in town. A lot of skis are made overseas; however, a local Colorado ski company makes their one-of-a-kind skis out of local Colorado wood, making them some of the most amazing skis in town.

Meier Skis was an idea that was born inside of local resident Ted Eynon’s business partner’s garage back in 2009, making the company a fresh face in the area.

Made out of Colorado aspen and pine beetle kill, Eynon explains that, “Everything is locally made. Everything is locally sourced. Locally source what we can materials-wise.” Enyon further noted that his business partner had skis from big-name brands that were falling apart, so they wanted to make a better option that also had the perks of supporting local business.

Denver movers suggest that if you are moving into the area and need some skis, to check out Meier Skis online for some awesome skis. They will also be opening a store in Denver soon!

If you are moving to Denver, it is important to know that you are moving to a city that always has something going on. Whether it’s a festival or reoccurring weekend event, the city is always bustling, which may actually be the exact reason why you decided to move to Denver.

Since Denver always has something going on, Denver movers were proud that city officials (along with park officials) decided to implement “Rest Days” starting in April of 2016. The Rest Days will allow seven of the busiest parks to take a break from special events like farmer’s markets, festivals, and races. Each park will receive two to four weekend days off every month. Denver movers think that this is a great way for locals to be able to enjoy the parks on the weekends more with their families, rather than potentially avoiding them after moving to Denver, since the city parks are constantly packed with events.

The following list illustrates the Denver parks and the amount of days off they will be receiving:

  1. Washington Park – three weekend days per month
  2. Civic Center Park – two weekend days per month
  3. City Park – three weekend days per month
  4. Confluence Park – two weekend days per month
  5. Cheesman Park – four weekend days per month
  6. Sloan’s Lake – three weekend days per month
  7. Stapleton’s Central Park – three weekend days per month

The exact days have not yet been announced, so be sure to keep an ear out after moving to Denver. Also, keep in mind that this is a pilot program that the city is trying in order to give new requests and entities a chance to have events in the park, rather than fulfilling the same requests each month. Denver movers learned that the pilot program will end in October 2016, so enjoy the Rest Days with your family before they end!

If you have not seen the popular television show Tiny House Nation: A Tour of Minimalist Living on FYI, then you have not witnessed the new trend that is sweeping the nation.

Denver movers have learned that ever since the housing market crash in the early 2000’s, homeowners have been searching for ways to be smarter about house hunting, smarter about the process of buying a home, smarter about the paperwork involved, and smarter about the area they buy in and make their homes investments. It also fueled more homeowners to downsize to something that they can always afford even if times got hard. The answer for some – tiny homes.

A tiny home can be built for as little as $20,000 depending on your style and must-haves in your tiny home. However, a lot of tiny home builders and buyers want their home to be able to be transported easily, like by trailing on the back of their trucks – making the size confined to certain dimensions. Although many of these homes are able to be trailed, they are not your typical trailer-style home. Tiny homes offer a sort of luxury and modern-style that make them so much more than the typical trailer-home. Another perk to moving to Denver and moving into a tiny home, or with your tiny home, is that you may not need the assistance of movers, eliminating major moving costs.

Since tiny homes are gaining popularity in Colorado, communities across the state are tweaking their building codes to allow tiny homes to be built. Tiny homes allow residents to spend less, take up less land, and live more eco-friendly – which Denver and the state of Colorado loves.

What is theater without lighting, design, and costumes? Well, it’s still theater. At least that’s the thought process for those who are a part of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. If you have an avid theater lover in your household and are moving to Denver, then you will be happy to know that this past month, the DCPA launched a new theater program that brings the actors to your school.

It’s called Shakespeare in the Parking lot. A pilot education program that brings six actors and minimal costumes and props to area schools. No crew or sets, just a short performance that will wow students on how they accomplished it. The team visits 10 schools this fall and 10 more in the spring. This 45 minute version of Romeo and Juliet will be showcased outside the schools for over 100 students to see. The actors do up to 8 shows over two days at each school.

Allison Watrous, DCPA’s director of education says, “One of the things theater can bring to the classroom is conversation, collaboration, and critical thinking,” The first test run took part in the Weld Central High School where students finally understood the lyrical text, “All the worlds a stage”.

Denver movers are excited that the program has come to their school and look forward to either being a part of the action or being a part of the audience. Either way, the program is set to encourage all students to shine and allow for a more theatrical experience.

If you are moving to Denver this October, local movers suggest steering clear from moving into this Cheeseman Park Residence, as it is home to a ghostly tale. The 1980 film, The Changeling, was based on paranormal events that occurred in a Denver home in the late 1960s. If you are looking for a great film to watch with your family that will really get them in the spirit of Halloween, then check out this film. Better yet, take a visit to the home and find out just how spooky it is.

Russell Hunter had worked as a musical arranger for CBS-TV in New York City, but moved to Denver in the mid-1960s to help his parents manage the Three Birches Lodge in Boulder. In the late 1960s, Hunter began looking for an apartment in Denver where he could live and work on his music. He rented a home at 1739 East 13th Avenue.

He claimed that beginning on February 9, 1969, he started to experience strange phenomena in the house. Hunter would hear unbelievably loud banging and crashing every morning at 6 a.m. that would stop as soon as he hit the floor. Faucets would turn on by themselves and doors would open and close on their own. Walls often vibrated violently, tossing paintings to the floor.

One day, Hunter discovered a hidden staircase in the back of a closet. The stairway led to the third floor of the home where Hunter found a child’s trunk containing a nine-year-old’s schoolbooks and journal from a century ago. The journal uncovered secrets of a young disabled boy who was isolated from the world. The boy wrote about his favorite toy, a red rubber ball. A few nights after discovering the trunk, a red rubber ball dropped from the top of a spiral staircase in the home.

Sounds spooky right? Denver movers suggest that you check out the film for yourself after moving to Denver. It is a great way to spend your Halloween as you finish unpacking from your move, and maybe brush up on some spooky local history.

The transition from middle school to high school can be difficult for any child, and when you express to your kids that you will be moving to Denver, the transition to a new school can be much harder for them. As scary as it may seem, it is great to know that Denver public schools are improving their educational programs and adding more schools to alleviate the issue of overcrowded schools in the district.

The board of Denver Public Schools approved two new schools on Thursday, and approved a middle school closure for the southwest Denver area. Many students and members of the community joined activists and protesters previously to the decision, to voice their concerns about the new middle school that will be moving into Abraham Lincoln High School. Denver movers and local residents were concerned that this already overcrowded school would become even more crowded with the new addition.

The district, in an effort to reform the lowest performing schools in the southwest, issued a request for new programs to go into the area earlier this year. The two programs the board approved at its meeting Thursday were ones that the district asked principals to design as district-run programs. The DPS will now consider both new schools and two charter schools that do not currently have a building, in a separate process next month to assign locations for the schools. All this in an effort to not overcrowd schools and to implement new district-run programs.

Denver movers are pleased with the outcome. The transition to both new schools will be an easy one, and if your child has any concerns about their new move to Denver and their new school, assure them that Denver has a great public school district and making new friends will be an exciting time in their lives!
